Elisha S. Loomis Papers 1890-1939

Elisha S. Loomis (1852-1940) was a professor of mathematics at Baldwin-Wallace College, Berea, Ohio, and head of the mathematics department at Cleveland's West High School. The collection consists of correspondence, autobiography, recollections, speeches, genealogical material, scrapbooks, and other papers, relating to education, geometry, mathematics, Sunday schools in Ohio, and Ohio pioneers. Includes biographical account of Dr. Aaron Schuyler, president of Baldwin University, obituary and cemetery records (1904) of Berea, Ohio, and genealogical material on Clara Byrde Loomis and Michael Shire, and the Beall, Benedict, Lawrence, Leete, Le Fevre, Loomis (Lumas), Oberholtzer, Rhoades, Taylor, Trowbridge, and Wright families.
